Suggestion for A New Spurs Song at the Lane

I was sent a request by the long suffering Spurs fan I go to the games with. Can I get a campaign started to change the usual song we sing at the lane from, “Oh When the Spurs Go Marching In”, to instead have “Send in the Clowns”?

His reasoning: It’s a sad enough tune to reflect the current mood and in many places it’s lyrically accurate. And in recent months I certainly feel like I’m at the circus when watching this bunch of slapstick muppets.
For those of you who have never heard of the song. It does exist. Here are the lyrics, and as I’ve just found, they are indeed highly appropriate for Spurs in places…
Isn’t it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air.
Send in the clowns.
We play some sexy football pinging the ball to feet, right now, the players are panicing and sending the ball long in mid air.
Isn’t it bliss?
Don’t you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can’t move.
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.
Isn’t it bliss, don’t you approve is Redknapp’s constant message to Spurs fans. We should be over the moon with where we are and what he’s done and he literally cannot understand why we might not be happy.
Just when I’d stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours,
Making my entrance again with my usual flair,
Sure of my lines,
No one is there.
Very apt for Spurs, in the first half of the season we were loved for our flair play and it was getting us results every week. Not anymore, we don’t look sure of anything, players are all over the place and especially with the left, Assou-Ekkoto goes to pass down the line to Bale, but no one is there.
Don’t you love farce?
My fault I fear.
I thought that you’d want what I want.
Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clowns?
Quick, send in the clowns.
Don’t bother, they’re here.

Our 2012 form can quite easily be described as a farce, it’s Redknapp’s fault I fear. It could be what he wants, but its not what we want. Send in the clowns? Don’t bother, the Spurs players are already here.

Isn’t it rich?
Isn’t it queer,
Losing my timing this late
In my career?
And where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns.
Well, maybe next year.
It is indeed frustrating that we are losing our form this late in the season and “well, maybe next year” has been a Tottenham mantra for many a year now. Some how it always turns to Clown shit.
