Report, Ratings and Twitter Reaction from Bale, Lennon, Sandro…

Tottenham 3 West Ham 1
Premier League 25th November 2012

That’s more like it. A controlled and convincing win against those racist scum bag long ball merchants. Now I wouldn’t normally insult a team and fan base like that, but when those fans sing chants in support of fellow human beings getting stabbed in the head, it’s the least they deserve.

After the game, a West Ham fan ran through the police line separating home and away fans and screamed “You dirty yid, LAZIO LAZIO LAZIO” in my face. Before I could enquire as to whether or not he enjoyed the 3-1 defeat in his cup final, a policeman had grabbed him round the neck and dragged him to the floor. He went down screaming “SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY…” That my friends, was hilarious and probably my favourite moment of the day.

But back to the game….

Our first goal came as half time was rapidly approaching. Defoe picked up the ball on the right touchline, muscled past two West Ham players and as the ref played advantage, he checked back in front of Noble and unleashed shot that sailed past Jaaskelainen from 20 yards. 1-0 Spurs.

The second half brought more Tottenham domination and some of the best football we’ve seen from Dempsey so far. His deft little chip over the West Ham defenders found Bale, who poked it to the side of the keeper and in off the post. 2-0 Spurs.

The third was thanks in large part to an excellent tackle from Sandro in the middle of the park that robbed a West Ham side committed in attack. In the resulting swift break, Dempsey sent Lennon through on goal who unselfishly squared to Defoe for a tap in. 3-0 Spurs.

There was enough time for West Ham to get one back after Caulker unnecessarily cleared out of Lloris’s gloves to Taylor, whose cross found Carroll’s head at the far post. 3-1 Spurs.

Player Ratings
Lloris 7 – Another good performance and some good saves. Possibly didn’t give Caulker the shout to leave the ball that resulted in the West Ham goal. Definitely the number one keeper now. (Edit: Park Lane Lower member Jack Wheeler tweeted me to inform me he did give Caulker a shout.)
Walker 6 – Had a decent enough game, but did run himself into trouble and frustratingly lose the ball a few times
Dawson 7.5 – Had a great game. Except for his long diagonal balls up to the vertically lacking Defoe which you just have to accept as a quirk of his game. He has long ball Tourette’s.
Caulker 7 – At fault for the West Ham goal, but otherwise solid.
Vertonghen 6.5 – Had a good game defensively, struggled to find outlets in attack.
Lennon 7 – Caused problems for West Ham all day long and was very unselfish to square the ball to Defoe to allow us to secure the points.
Sandro 8 – Beast.
Huddlestone 6.5 – Slow and a liability at times, but strong and useful at others.
Bale 8 – Had a good game. Got a few crosses in, scored a goal and was always looking to cut in and test the keeper from range.
Dempsey 7 – Probably his best game for us in terms of his hold-up play and the assist for the second goal.
Defoe 9 – A moment of individual brilliance for the first goal served as the spark for the team as they kept control into the second half. Lively and tested the keeper throughout.

Subs
Dembele 6 – Good to see him back.
Livermore & Sigurdsson 5 – On late.
